THE CARE & SUPPORT WE OFFER at York lodge
accessing information standard
Intrinsic to the care we give our residents is ensuring that we always take steps or make reasonable adjustments in order to avoid putting our residents with disabilities, impairments or sensory loss at a substantial disadvantage when compared to people who do not have a disability. This could mean recording care plans for residents with hearing impairments, creating large text documents for residents with sight impairment. We work within a person centered approach and support each resident according to their communication and information accessing needs.
personal & healthcare
We provide differing levels of personal care depending on the residents needs as outlined in their care plan. We support residents in attending health care appointments and have a monthly in house healthcare clinic too.
lifestyle, choice & dignity
We aim to provide a lifestyle for the residents which satisfy their social, cultural, religious and recreational interests and needs. We help residents to exercise choice and control over their lives and hold regular resident meetings to allow them to feedback and to provide direction for our activity programme.
We preserve respect for our residents' intrinsic values by helping them present themselves to others as they wish through their own clothing, personal appearance and their public behaviour. We retain maximum flexibility in the routines of the daily life of the home to ensure that the philosophy is not task orientated.
civil rights
We work to maintain our resident's place in society as fully participating and benefiting citizens by helping ensure they receive all appropriate benefits, social services and given access to all elements of the NHS. As well as assisting residents' access to public services, volunteering opportunities and the chance to vote in general elections.
independence & fulfilLment
We want our residents to attain as much independence as they possibly can by fostering their opportunities, including promoting possibilities for them to establish and maintain relationships beyond the home and to access and contribute to the records of their own care. Further still we want to help our residents realise their personal aspirations and abilities in all aspects of their lives.
privacy
We recognise that living in a communal setting is inherently invasive of our resident's ability to enjoy the pleasure of being alone therefore we strive to retain as much privacy as possible for the residents by working as discreetly as possible, providing locks on bedrooms and bathrooms and quiet rooms for private meetings.
security, PROTECTION & complaints
We aim to provide a secure environment and structure of support which responds to the need for security by protecting residents from all forms of abuse from all possible abusers and have created an environment which the residents experience as open, positive and inclusive. We also provide accessible channels for dealing with complaints by residents. We uphold the homes Data Protection Policy to ensure the confidentiality of the information the home holds about residents.
meals
We provide meals which constitute a wholesome, appealing and balanced diet. We provide regular forums between residents and our cook to ensure that all the residents have an opportunity to chose what they would like to have on the menu and to provide an alternative for each meal provided and a vegetarian option too.
STAFFING
We believe that the staff at York Lodge play a very important role in resident's welfare. To maximise this contribution we employ staff in sufficient numbers and the relevant skills to meet the resident's needs.

In order to provide high quality leadership our management are qualified, competent and experienced for the task; their approach is that which creates a open, positive and inclusive atmosphere.
