meet the staff team

One of the biggest challenges in the care industry today is recruitment and retention of staff. The majority of staff at York Lodge have been in post between 5 and 20 years. This has ensured stability and excellent continuity of care. The staff are trained to Health and Social Care NVQ level 3 and fulfil a detailed programme of specialised training for their role. They are a strength of the home.

registered manager - mr tony mckernan BA(hons) rgn, rma

Tony has been with York Lodge since 1992 and oversees the overall running of the home. His philosophy is grounded on encouraging independence of the residents, ensuring residents have control over their lives in a supportive partnership with staff. Tony ensures high quality of care by implemention of up to date national legislation and policy. Tony is also employed as a CQC bank inspector and enjoys playing golf in his free time.

assistant manager - mrs natalie worfolk bsC(hons) psy, level 5 cqf

Natalie has worked at York Lodge for 14 years. She works alongside Tony in the everyday running of the home and takes the lead in care planning, medication and infection control. Natalie is passionate in delivering a person centered service and in working closely within a multidisciplinary team. Her experience gained during the completion of her psychology degree has had an overall benefit overall benefit of the resident's physical and mental well being. Out of the home Natalie is a weddings and events photographer.

senior care assistant - mrs jenny stewart

Jenny has worked at York Lodge for 18 years. She currently holds Health and Social Care Certificate  NVQ level 4 and is very passionate about delivering high quality care. Jenny takes the lead in the refurbishment and decoration in the home. Jenny also supports the management with the upkeep of administrative duties in the home. Outside of the home Jenny is an accomplished cake maker.

cook - mrs Sandra davis

Sandra came back to work with us in 2010. As the home's cook she manages the daily kitchen duties and undertakes the food orders for the home. Sandra works with the residents to ensure that they receive a varied and wholesome menu. Her work in the kitchen has been recognised with a rating of 5 for food hygiene which is the highest award issued by the Food Standards Agency. She cooks a special birthday meal of the residents choice on their birthdays. Sandra has a love of novels and her beautiful dog Bobby.

COOK - MRS CLAIRE WINTER

senior care assistant - ms Stephanie barnAveld

Steph has been with York Lodge for 11 years. She works in the kitchen and is the lead care assistant at the weekend. Steph has a very good relationship with the residents and works very well in listening to the residents problems and giving sound advice. Steph brings a lot of experience into her role and this benefits everyone. Steph enjoys the arts and is a keen explorer of the British countryside.

care assistant - miss megan monaghan dickson

Megan has been with us since 2014. She has recently returned from travelling in south east Asia and has lots of plans for her future. Megan is a natural carer who is very confident in her role and brings lots of fun and energy into the home.

care assistant - mrs Deirdre algeo

Deirdre is a very dedicated member of staff who has always worked diligently for the care of the residents and betterment of the home. She also provides one to one social support for residents to access the community to ensure residents maintain previous hobbies and interests.  Deirdre enjoys spending her time with friends and family and dotes on her grandchildren.

cleaning assistant - MS catia rossi

Catia started working at York Lodge in December 2016 and has established herself as a valuable member of the staff team. She is very dedicated to her role and works very well with the residents. Catia is also a qualified beautician.

care assistant - mrs LORNA McKernan

Lorna is a long term friend of York Lodge and has been working on a bank basis for 20 years. In 2018 Lorna became qualified as a foot care specialist and now supports residents with their foot care needs. In the autumn of 2018 Lorna has become a part time care assistant at the home. Lorna also works part time as a school teacher.

CARE ASSISTANT - MISS GABIJA MAKAUSKAITE

Gabija started working at York Lodge in the autumn of 2018. Gabija predominantly has fast become at home at York Lodge and says she enjoys working within such a supportive staff team.

CARE ASSISTANT - MRS ALI BEANEY

Ali has worked at York Lodge in both part time and bank roles over past years. She is a diligent worker who works very well with the residents. Ali is a full time Teaching assistant who coaches a netball team.

care/cleaning assistant - eve mckernan

Eve has recently joined York Lodge and works cleaning shifts at the weekend. Eve is a very sporty personality and is apart of many sports groups including netball.

CLEANING ASSISTANT - LILY MCKERNAN

Lily also joined us this summer and works cleaning shifts at the weekend. Lily is a brilliant home baker and has baked amazing cakes etc. for local fairs.
