SUPPORT WORK

We provide support workers to ensure that all the residents at York Lodge have the opportunity and assistance in accessing the community. Lots of residents wish for one on one time and others enjoy going out in groups. We cater for the needs and wishes of the residents at all times. For example: Lots of the residents chose to vote in the recent general election and we assisted them in doing this.

accessing amenities and shops in the town

We are very lucky to be in very short distance to many local amenities. Our residents enjoy going to Gala bingo, the snooker hall, the cinema, theatre, museums and the pier. Lots of our residents enjoy the freedom to walk into town themselves and buy their own toiletries and clothes. Other residents require the assistance of staff; through mobility issues or moral support, to access the town.

going further a field

As a home we cater to the needs and wishes of our current clients. In the past we have taken residents on holiday to many holiday destinations along the southern coast such as Poole, Butlins and Bournemouth. Over the past few years however our residents have shown an interest in having one to one day trips and outings instead; such as watching football matches, escorting residents to their family functions and events, museum trips and day trips to London, Southampton and Portsmouth.

ACCESSING Knowledge and occupational opportunities

We are passionate at York Lodge to ensure that, should they wish for it, our residents are assisted in accessing education and working opportunities. In the past we have escorted residents to job centre interviews, prospective employers, college open days and induction processes. We also escort residents to the local library and help residents access solicitors, advocates and travel cards.
